Mother and Baby unit, Bethlem Hospital, Beckenham< kent
« on: July 10, 2008, 09:52:09 PM »

My wife has been offered a bed at the above hospital in the mother and baby unit.  i am considering taking her out of the priory in order for her to be with other people with a similar ilness and also to be able to have more intensive treatment.  The priory is very good but more relaxed and unfortunately with the psychosis, she has been unable to take part in group therpy and so is bored each day.

Please can anyone let me know if you or someone you know has had experience here - i understand it to be very good.

Thanks

Hadley

I come from Forest Hill and will shortly be returning home there after a period of recuperation from this illness. I am anxious not to let the illness return when I get home, so it would be really good to meet up with your wife.  Do you live in Beckenham?  I think a large part of the recovery process will be about regaining self-confidence and it would be good to do that with someone else who has had similar experiences.

Hi again,

I've just realised that your wife is probably not at home - I'm back home in London now.  I've also been referred to the Bethlem hospital for a further assessment.  Is your wife there?  If so, maybe I could see here when I have to go there (in the next couple of weeks)?

It is nice that your wife has been offered a bed at the above hospital in mother and baby unit.  I think you are right, considering to take her out of the priory in order for her to be with other people with a similar illness and also to be able to have more intensive treatment. But you are the husband, so you are the one to decide whether you like it or not!

I would talk about this with the doctor very firmly if your son was  better on the Risperdal. It is good that he has you to ask the questions and keep on top of his treatment
