18 years ago my Mother suffered from this terrible illness.
To cut a very long story short she tried to kill herself and couldn't stand to leave her baby so she smothered him with a pillow.
She lived and her baby died.
Although it was 18 years ago I will never forget the horrer on my mothers face when she woke up in hospital and realised she was still alive.
She was arrested for murder but when on trial the jury could see she was very very ill and she was sentanced to 6 months in a mental heath ward in hospital.
She has attempted suicide many more times but luckily failed every time.
As you can imagine she struggles daily with the pain and guilt and blames herself even though she was horrifically ill. This has gone on too long and last year she lost my father who has always been her support.
She is coping really well and is "normal" and has been for a long time although she still has bad days. She would love to here from anyone in the same situation or to be able to help people going through this horrid illness.
Thanks to this wonderfull website I have registered her for the research program in Wales and am hoping she canl provide them with much needed infomation.
