Hi, I would have thought the chances are low but don't know for sure, you would need to check with a specialist.  I had puerperal psychosis 12 years ago and have never had any kind of relapse since.  Hope this helps. Debra x

Hi,
I talked to my doctor today, and asked that question.  He really couldn't give me a percentage.  He basically said
that it happens, but they can't yet predict who will relapse and when.

Hi

I was told that I would have relapses on and off for the rest of my life, touch wood it hasn't happened but I guess they said that because it does with some people from time to time xx No idea what the percentage would be, the health professionals probably don't either xx I think some of what they say / predict is guess work anyway xx

Your symptoms could be related to PP, or some other form of mental health issue I guess, even though they are slightly different on this occasion xx Best bet is to go see your Doc and tell them what's happening xx

Hi I had pp 3 years ago and since then have had mild re-lapses now and again. I've just had one very recently and I'm back on a very small dose of Olanzapine. The health professions think I may have bi-polar so, I am being assessed by the medic at the Community Mental Health next wk. I want to try and manage my symptoms with as little medication as possible and would rather have talking therapies (cognitive behavioural therapy) to help me cope with the lows.

With this episode I've been hypermanic and I've had some visual disturbances and extra sensitive senses, Smells, and a skin crawling sensation. I'm so used to it now so it doesn't scare me anymore. I would never allow myself to have a full blown psychotic episode again cos I know all the signs now!!
