Hi all,
I find myself in a very difficult situation regarding my Brother and Sister-in-Law. I will give a very brief account of the situation and welcome any and all suggestions on what I can do.
SIL is Italian but has been living in England since baby was 2 months old. As with any new relationship brother and SIL had a few problems in the early months with their relationship but all was resolved by Jan 2009. SIL took baby to Italy to visit her Mother in March and returned as planned. Went for another visit in July, originally for 3 weeks but extended due to her Mother encountering ill health. She was due to return on 10th October, flight booked and paid for by her. The day before my Brother received a phone call informing him she wasnt returning and the relationship was over. There was no prior warning, no arguements, nothing!! Brother had visited her in Italy twice on her extended holiday and all was fine.
I am now wondering if she could possibly be suffering from some form of Post natal depression? Her total obsession with the baby is all consuming, to the point we have had to attend court in Italy to gain visitation rights whilst the Hague Convention is being filed for the babies return to the UK. Her behaviour is irrational, illogical and totally out of character. How can medical intervention be sought whilst she is in Italy? I have raised the point with our Italian legal team but am awaiting a reply.
SIL is an older mother (41) first child and had an emergency C section due to difficulties during the birth. Please anyone shed some light on any actions I can take. I did raise the point with her about her mental state, in a very tactful diplomatic way and she completely flipped at the mere suggestion!!
