Pnd I feel like crap, can anyone help??????
« on: September 25, 2010, 07:27:59 PM »
My name is  Kelly and I have a 8mth old daughter who is a little bundle of happy. I on the other hand an a great big heap of unhappy as i have PND and I cannot cope with with anything at all and have been like this for 5mths.
I dont want to be like this i feel totally alienated from my child who I cannot bond with and find it very hard to show any love and affection to,i just feel she would be better off if i left and would be bought up by her father.
All I ever wanted was to be a mum and now I cant understand WHY I cant DO IT.
Can anyone help me please.
Does anyone else have the same feelings?????

Hi

Have you sought any help from your GP? They could refer you to a consultant psych.  I suffered with Puerpal psychosis pretty much straight after my son was born (22 months). I was able to feed him for a week but then I went onto medication which I really beat myself up about at the time because I wanted to breast feed. I know now that it really was the best thing to do so I would advise getting some medication to help your mood.  I too was very nervous and afraid to do anything with my baby and felt I couldn't cope.  My mum was a godsend and stayed with me for 2 months. I am currently taking Lithium and Lamictal which are both mood stabilisers.  I was also on Cimpramil (anti-depressant) but have come off that as I don't need it anymore.  I went into hospital when my son was 10 days old as my condition was so acute.  It was very difficult, despite family bringing my son to see me every day.

I am happy to report that there really is light at the end of the tunnel, I am feeling on top form and enjoying my lovely boy.  Iwould never have forseen this as I felt so bad in the beginning.  Like you I just wanted to disappear and for no one to find me.

Good luck!!  ;D

Hello, my name is Louise Heard and I know exactly how you feel, I have suffered with PND for 3 years and I am still struggling but each day has its good and bad points,  hey I even congratulate myself if I make it through another sleepless night or manage to cook a meal for my two little boys from scratch without feeling the world is falling apart because I cant cope with the mess of cooking feeding and cleaning away.

There is light at the end of the tunnel and that is the slogan on a group I have helped set up in Sheffield called Light (for that reason)  we are women who have had pnd working with health professionals to try and raise awareness,  my number is available if you want to talk at any time day or night, I was diagnosed borderline psychosis and I understand how desperately lonely and hopeless you can feel.
Be strong

Hi there, hope your in good condition, you know what you should seek help from a professional immediately before anything gets worst. Seeking advice from a professional can be a great help they know what to do with your case. Don't self medicate or you condition will worsen, seek help from family and friends. There are institutions that provides care for people who has condition like PND, you could always search online like  to know your option.
