Surviving PNI
« on: April 20, 2009, 10:21:37 AM »
Hello to everyone :)

My name is Rachel Day. I suffered with Post Natal Psychosis with my first child and finally recovered roughly two years on.

Suffering from this illness dramatically changed my entire life but i have bought something positive out of it and have created my own website and have written a book which is now for sale at www.authorhouse.co.uk

If anybody wishes to talk to me about how you are feeling please do not hesitate to do so

Rachel Day

Hi Rachel,

Sorry to hear you have suffered with Post Natal Psychosis but am pleased something positive has come out of it for you. I suffered with Post Natal Psychosis and have just this month come off anti psychotic medication and finally feel back to my normal self roughly 2 years on. My son will be 2 in July and I was diagnosed with the illness in October 2007. I have just seen your book on your website and am keen to learn more about your story so will def be making a purchase.

I have posted a discussion on puerperal psychosis forum and would be keen to hear from someone who has been through the illness.

I don't feel bad for what happened to me now but just find it helpful to talk about it.

Sukina

Hi, I suffered with puerperal psychosis in 2006 a few months after my son was born (I felt fine but exhausted the first few months) - I spent 3 months in a Mother and Baby Unit and finally came off all my medication in October last year.  I have feltl back to my normal self for a while now but still think about when I was ill a lot, especially as I am thinking about whether or not to have another baby in the next year or so.  My son will start school next September and I am thinking about whether this would be a good time to have a baby, although my Husband understandilbly is really worried about whether I get ill again.  Each doctor I have seen tends to give me a different answer on the likelihood/chances of getting ill again and I can't seem to find a lot of information on the internet about if people who have had pueperal psychosis once tend to get ill again if they have another baby? I don't know anyone else to talk to who has had the same illness as me and just wondered if you would ever consider having another baby?
